Last week we held our February meeting. The weather was horrendous, snowy and very slippery! Despite the weather a good crowd of members turned up, thanks for braving the cold
(Natalie and Trista modelling their sashes with the raffle prizes)
It was the third birthday of the WI and we also went through official things like a summary of all the activities we crammed into last year and speeches from other committee members.
We also held a bake off as part of our birthday celebration and everything looked and tasted delicious. We all gorged ourselves on cake before voting for a best biscuit/slice and best cake.
The winner of the cake category was Emma’s tangy mojito cake, with its lime curd filling, mint icing and a dash of rum it was very much enjoyed!
The winner of the biscuit category was Laura’s Nanaimo bars (does anyone out there know how to pronounce this!?), which are apparently a Canadian national treasure.
Trista made some amazing Bakewell Butter. It is seriously addictive stuff, I have been spreading it over biscuits or eating it straight from the spoon…yum!
Mmmm, tasty Lamingtons, brownies and moreish Nutella cookies. Erin and Trista look very happy at the sight of all that cake!
It was a lovely way to celebrate another year of the Nottingham City WI.
Hope to see you at our next meeting in March
