A weekend cake-stravangaza!

Hello again – more Nottingham news – I wanted to share some info on Cake Eaters Anonymous which I wrote about on my other blog, Kerrycooks today! The next event I’ll be going to is the April 29th one – come along if you love cake!

Kerry Cooks

I had a lovely weekend in summery Nottingham where it was beautifully sunny and warm! I just love Spring, there’s nothing else quite like it and it makes me so excited about everything to come – like bbqs!

Anyway, today I want to show you some pictures of the March cake club which I went to on Sunday. I’ve mentioned Cake Eaters Anonymous before on Kerrycooks, but in case you’re new – its a monthly cake club which raises money for deserving charities through the medium of cake! Bakers pay a small fee to go along, bringing a cake or baked good of their choice, and they then spend a lovely afternoon chatting, meeting  new people and eating cake!

This months club was held at the Larder on Goosegate, which is a lovely restaurant which was also the first ever Boots the Chemist store almost two hundred years ago.

Nottingham news!

Hello! We wanted to share with you some Nottingham news- let us know if there’s anything else you’ve heard of that we should feature on our blog!

I learned recently that the Newton building in the city centre is home to a pair of Perigrine Falcons who have been living there and raising chicks together for 10 years (awww!). You can see what they’re up to on the webcam here – the current babies are due to hatch around the end of April! According to the RSPB, falcons normally live in rocky seaside cliffs and uplands, and don’t usually to live in the midlands at all! Plus there are only about 1400 breeding pairs in the UK, so we’re very lucky to have them.

May fest

On Saturday 19 May 2012 from 11am to 5.30pm The University of Nottingham opens its gates for May Fest, a day of free, fun and interactive activities for all ages and interests. A full programme of events will be available soon – I can’t wait to visit the eco homes!

City WI March meeting – March 14th

Phew! How time has flown since our last meeting! Its nearly time for our March meeting, coming up this Wednesday at 7.30pm at the usual place.

This month we’re learning all about how to make our own homemade pamper products, like bath bombs and face scrubs! Don’t forget to bring some tupperware or some sturdy sandwich bags to take your products home with you.

See you there!
