Join us!

City WI is a young, friendly and modern WI. We don’t stand much on ceremony, and we may not know ALL of the words to Jerusalem, but we have a great programme of events and meetings for 2017, as well as our own secret garden, a thriving book club,  craft club, culture club and brunch club and we’d love to meet you!

Interested in joining us? Here’s how!

Visitor

You’re more than welcome to come along to your first City WI meeting! Come along, have a cup of tea and a chat and see if we’re the right WI for you.

Visitors pay NOTHING at their first meeting and we ask that returning visitors pay £4 per meeting to help us cover our running costs.

Membership

Want to become a member of the WI? Then just speak to our treasurer (the lady at the front desk with the box!) at one of our meetings. The cost for membership in 2017 is £39.00 which includes that year’s meetings and copies of the WI Life magazine. If you’re already a member of another WI you can join City WI on a dual membership – just ask.

If you join later in the UK, the cost is pro rata – see below.

Date of joining                    |   Cost

1 Jan – 31 March                       £39.00

1 Apr – 30 June                          £29.25

1 July – 30 Sept                         £19.50

1 Oct – 31 Dec                             £9.75

Hi there, I am interested in joining the WI, I have wanted to for quite a long time, but have felt quite shy, to be coming into a room full of ladies I don’t know, my sister has joined one in derby and she seems to be having a wonderful time. I have always thought that the WI was for, how can I put it, the more upper class lady, of which I am not, I am just an ordinary working lady, but with lots of interests including all types of craft, reading etc, so I hope to come to your meeting tonight and I look forward to meeting you all, kind regards Sheila

    • Lovely – thanks Sophia! You’re welcome to try ours, otherwise contact the Nottinghamshire Federation of WIs about starting a new one, although I’m pretty sure there is one in Mansfield

    Hi,

I am really interested in attending your next meeting. Could you tell me when it is please? I really like the sound of a ‘young’ WI,

    • Hi Lucy – Thanks for getting in touch with City WI! You are more than welcome to come along to our next meeting, which will be held at the International Community Centre on Mansfield Road, on Wednesday, 14th October, from 7.30pm. We will be joined by the ‘Coppafeel’ Campaign who will be helping us get into the habit of checking our boobs for lumps and changes, which can be early warning signs for cancer. We will also be thrashing out our potential programme of speakers and activities for next year, so you’re coming along at just the right time!

Our branch meets every second Wednesday at the ICC and your first meeting is free of charge, so that you can come along and see if it is for you!

If you decide to come along to any of the meetings, you will be made very welcome – look forward to meeting you soon!

    Hello,

I inquired about joining the City WI last month but I had a meeting at work on that day so couldn’t attend. I’d like to come this month though, is it Wednesday 11th at 7.30? And is it the same location?

    Thanks,

    Lucy.

    • Hi Charlotte

The next meeting is tonight at 7.30pm!… We’re having a go at a selection of festive crafts, so it’s an ideal evening to come along and get the opportunity for a chat with members and other visitors. Your first visit is free of charge, so that you can decide if it’s for you! The next meeting will be our Christmas meal on 9th December – just let me know if you would like to join us and I’ll give you further details.

      Hope to see you later!

Hello! I’ve been meaning to come and join for ages now, but things (like my toddler!!) keep getting in the way. I’ve just seen that your next meeting is the AGM, can new members still come to that one? Or would it be better to join in April? Thanks!! Sarah xx

  11. Hi Sarah, yes you are most welcome to join us for our March meeting (or indeed any other). Many of us joined at last years AGM!
