Our programme for 2017 is under construction!  Please note that meetings may vary slightly from the below and there are some additional outings and events to add, check our Facebook and Twitter for the latest information.

January 11th An Introduction to Tai-Chi

Post-2016, let’s ease ourselves in gently with some smooth Tai-Chi moves, courtesy of the master of mellow, Jason Sewell!

February 8th – An Introduction to The Chinese Tea Ceremony

Who could possibly bring tea to the WI?!  Estelle from August Moon will introduce us to the art of this ancient ceremony.

March 8th – No Surrender! Women’s Suffrage in Nottinghamshire / City WI Annual Meeting

Dr Rowena Edlin-White of Nottingham Women’s History Group will be taking us back in time, retracing the steps of Nottinghamshire’s homegrown activists.

Please note, we will also be holding our Annual Meeting during this evening, when we will be appointing a new President, Secretary, Treasurer and full committee.  Please note, only fully paid-up members are eligible to vote in the Annual Meeting / stand for a position.

DIARY DATE – March 28th-29th – WI Fair at Alexandra Palace

We will be organising a group trip to the Fair on one of these days (watch this space!)

April 12th – Organ Donation, a Personal Experience

We welcome Janet to tell us her story and promote the life-saving value of the Organ Donation Register.

May 10th – Flower Arranging

Blooming marvellous instruction to boost our fundamental WI skills, courtesy of Richard and Stephanie Priestley.

DIARY DATE – June 7th – National Federation of Women’s Institutes Annual Meeting

9.30am-4.30pm at Liverpool Echo Arena.

June 14th – Let’s Lindy Hop!

Pull on your dancing shoes and get ready to swing!

DIARY DATE – July 1st – Nottingham City WI Summer Fete

Our inaugural Summer Fete in our very own Barker Gate secret garden!  There will be tea, cake and lovely things.

July 12th – Beneath Nottingham’s Feet

Nottingham is a city riddled with caves.  Trent and Peak have been mapping these for some time and will be treating us to an exclusive insight.

August 9th – Women’s Health

Kerry from The Little London Herbal Store will be coming to share her wisdom (and we’re told there will be gluten-free cake on offer!)

September 13th – Robin Hood Tour

A historical tour of The Lace Market area of the city with Nottingham’s favourite outlaw, taking in our Barker Gate secret garden and a local hostelry or two!

DIARY DATE – October 7th or 21st (to be confirmed) – City WI Beer Festival at The Crafty Crow

After the success of our first Beer Festival last year, let’s do it again!

October 11th – Sugary Mice and All Things Nice

A sweet introduction to the delicate and delicious art of sugarcraft.

November 8th – A Night With The Stars

All will be revealed closer to the date!

December 13th – Christmas Celebrations

Christmas crafty treats and edible loveliness to round off the year!
