Formed early in 2009 by a group of likeminded twentysomethings eager to share skills, meet new people and have some fun, City WI has grown into a large and friendly group full of people of all ages. We enjoy a mix of the traditional and the new and have tried activities such as cupcake decorating, belly dancing, knitting, self defence and lots more as well as having our own Facebook and Twitter sites. We also make regular appearances on BBC Radio Nottingham and Notts TV.

The Women’s Institute is the largest women’s organisation in the UK. It was formed in 1915 and gives women the chance to build new skills, make new friends, and campaign on issues that matter to them and their community.

    1. Hi. Feel free to just turn up at our next meeting on Wednesday 11 May. We meet at 7.30pm at the International Community Centre on Mansfield Road. If you’d like any more information feel free to email us at citywi@ymail.com.
Hope to see you in May!

  1. I was thinking about attending the next WI meeting to see what it’s like. I would really appreciate a few details on time/date/location etc. Also i’m not very familiar with the area so i was wondering if it would be pracical to put it in my satnav and drive there?
    Thanks

    1. Hi Elizabeth – you can see all the details about the february meeting here on our website. The satnav postcode is NG1 3FN and I’m sure that would work fine, the only thing is that there might not be parking available at the community centre, but you should be able to find somewhere to park in the surrounding streets.

Hope to see you on Wednesday!

  2. In your info you say you are a younger branch of the WI… I’m a young 51 so which group would I go to ???? Thx JB

    1. Hi there – its completely up to you – depending on where you live, if we’re the closest then I would say come and try one of our meetings and see whether you like it! The next one is this Wednesday the 9th

Please email us at citywi@ymail.com for more info

      thanks Kerry

    2. Hi JB – its totally up to you. We have members of around your age, but I’d suggest coming along to the June meeting as I think its more about the personality of the other people and the atmosphere of the group. The next meeting is June 13th at 7.30pm at the ICC on Mansfield road – room 4.

  3. I’m interested in joining a WI as do many crafts etc just wondering at 63 if I’m too old for your group ?

    1. Hello Judith, you are very welcome, we have no age constraints! We also run a craft group which you may be interested in. Our next WI meeting is the 2nd Wednesday in August do hope to see you there, Lucy, Vice President.

  4. Hi. I am 72 but very with it. Would I be too old come along. I belong to the Sherwood WI and am very into crafts. Regards Maxine
